Customer Story: Department of Human Services, Australia

The Australian Government Department of Human Services (the department) is one of the largest government departments in Australia, responsible for implementing social and health payments and services for almost every Australian.

The department is in the process of implementing a large-scale business transformation programme, redesigning the way payments and services are delivered to customers and removing complex business and technology environments that have been in place for more than 30 years. As Solution Manager, Ms Sue Morrison oversees the operations of two Agile Release Trains tasked with this transformation.

This session will explore some of the challenges Ms Morrison has faced as one of the first people to implement SAFe methodology into the department, how she achieved success in bridging gaps between business and technology teams, the importance of culture building and how she overcame barriers to servant leadership when operating in a hierarchical environment.
